Providence and Eccles recorded victories when the East Bank Demerara Cricket Association (EBDCA)/Goodwood Racing Service (GRS) 40-over tournament commenced last weekend.
On Saturday, Providence defeated Ruimveldt by 42 runs at Laluni. Providence batted first and were bowled out for 115 off 24.2 overs. Terrence De Chuna stroked 37 and Michael Reline made 18. Erick Sukrah claimed 4-9 and Ershad Ally 2-26.
Ruimveldt were sent packing for 73 in 15.2 overs in reply, Sukrah was the only batsman that offered any resistance with 27; Rakish Seegoram snared 4-16 and Reline 2-26.
On Sunday, Eccles overcame Uprising by 75 runs at the said venue. Eccles posted 172-7 batting first after the game was reduced to 25 overs due to rain. Ryan Shun slammed 49 and Sahadeo Hardeo cracked 40. Raymond Mitchell captured 3-28 and Navin Persaud 2-17. Uprising responded with 97-9 off 25 overs. Gary Ramnauth scored 21; T. Tyrell took 2-25.
