Murder accused Inderjeet Sewdan, 20, was on Monday remanded to jail by Magistrate Rabindranauth Singh when he
appeared before him at the Whim Magistrate’s Court on the charge of Murder.
Sewdan, a labourer of Free Yard, Port Mourant, Corentyne, Berbice, is accused of killing his stepfather, Deochand Singh, 48, a father of two, of the same address. Singh was brutally bludgeoned to death on August 13 at Free Yard.
A post mortem examination revealed that the man died of multiple injuries. He reportedly received 18 stab wounds, 14 to the neck; he also had lacerations about his body and a wound to his head.
Singh was not represented in court. He will have to return to court on September 15 for a continuation of the matter.
