MSC overcome GDF in Noble House tourney
A fine half century by Quincy Ovid Richardson coupled by five wicket hauls from Christian Osborne and Deswyn Butts guided GNIC to an innings and 95 runs victory over Transport Sports Club (TSC) when the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA)/Hadi’s World Inc first division 2-day tournament continued last Sunday.
After the entire first day (Saturday) was rained out without a ball being bowled at Malteenoes Sports Club, GNIC batted first and posted 262-5 declared after facing 48 overs. Richardson stroked 89 and got support from David Dick 42, Clyde Butts 35 and Kurt Lovell 29. Kevin Ross claimed 3-86 and Jonathan Alphonso 2-48. TSC were bowled out for 94 in 21 overs in reply. Ryan Hemraj made 27; Charwayne McPherson 16 and Alphonso 14 not out. Osborne snared 5-25, Clyde Butts 2-10 and Deswyn Butts 2-28.
Trailing by 168, TSC were 73-6 in 16 overs at stumps on the final day. Hemraj scored 27; Deswyn Butts grabbed 5-22.
Meanwhile in the Noble House Sea Foods second division, MSC defeated Guyana Defence Force (GDF) by 120 runs at Gandhi Youth Organisation. MSC took first strike and managed 112 all out in 27 overs. Rakeel Green led with 23 not out as Randy Lindore picked up 3-16. GDF replied with 91-7 in 25 overs, innings closed. Marcus Watkins and Lindore were the only batsmen that showed fight with 26 and 23 respectively. Darien Best had 3-23.
Batting a second time, MSC scored 162 all out in 19.5 overs. Kareem Naughton slammed 37 and Green 29; Ravi Persaud bagged 6-64 and Jeremiah Harris 3-16. In pursuit of 184 for victory GDF were sent packing for 63 in their second innings. Steven Sankar claimed 3-7 and Best 2-21.
