Due to unforeseen circumstances the start of the Unity for the Nation Organisation 3-A-Side Small Goal Knockout Football Competition has been put back by one week.
The month long competition which was set to kick off on Sunday August 17th (yesterday) on the lawns of the Fordy’s Subletta Catering at the Junction of Winkle Road and Tucber Park, New Amsterdam, did not get kicking as was scheduled.
However according to coordinator and founder of the group Eli Hazel, although all was set and ready for a go on the part of the organizers some last minute glitches cropped up which forced the start of the activity back by one week.
The event is set to climax in September and so far over 20 teams drawn from areas of West Berbice, Corentyne, East and West Canje, New Amsterdam and East Bank Berbice have all indicated their interest in being part of the activity.
The winning team will receive $50,000, second placed $25,000 and third will collect $13,000.
Contact can be made with Hazel on Telephone numbers 333-3309 or 618-8500. (Samuel Whyte)
