The Unity for the Nation Organisation 3-A-Side small goal knockout football competition will kick off today on the lawns of the Fordy’s Subletta Catering at the Junction of Winkle Road and Tucber Park, New Amsterdam, Berbice from 14:00hrs. The month long competition is expected to cumulate on September 14th.
According to coordinator Eli Hazel all systems are in place for an exciting month of football action with more than 20 teams expected to participate. Teams are expected to consist of five players each with three playing at a time and are expected from West Berbice, Corentyne, East and West Canje, New Amsterdam and East Bank Berbice.
The competition has attractive monetary and other prizes available for the top three teams as well as the outstanding individual performers.
The winning team will receive $50,000; second placed $25,000 and third will collect $13,000. So far over 20 teams have indicated a willingness to participate in the day’s event.
