With all final adjustments and changes completed, the stage is set for the Rising Sun Turf Club in collaboration with the Inshan Bacchus Hard Runnings Trucking Service, Jumbo Jet Auto Sales and Racing Stables and Mohammed ‘Nankoo’ Shariff Business Enterprise one day horserace meet slated for today at the club’s entity’s Rising Sun Arima Park, West Coast Berbice.

With all the major stables on board and some encouraging prize monies available a bumper crowd is anticipated to see the more than 65 horses battle for the prizes up for grabs.
Seven races are listed on the day’s card with over $5M in prize money, trophies and other goodies up for grabs.
Meanwhile, the popular Trophy Stall business establishment has stuck to their word and presented the trophies for the event which was done at their Bourda location. Doing the honours was Proprietress Mrs. D. Sunich.
The final programme with the horses listed will show that the D and lower event is the feature race with a star studded field lining up to take part with the likes of Treacle, Red and Lovely, Settle In Seattle, Swing Easy, Run Nana Run, Dark and Lovely, Jack Is my Style, City Tune, Church House and the newly imported Passion for Song competing over 1600M for the lucrative first prize of $1M and trophy compliments of Banks DIH Limited.
Horses such as Cat Messiah, Sweet Return, I Get Another, the Legend, Hand field, Sent from Above, Miss Doubt Fire, Shantal Baby, Compador, Super Bowl, She So Special, Isabella and Book Rules have been entered in the three year Guyana and West Indies Bred maiden and G three and lower 1400M race for the top prize $600,000.
The incentive in the F and lower event is worth $460,000 also over 1400M.
Red Steel, Settling Star, Storm Bird, Dream Come through, Midnight Blue, Keep on Swinging, Country Girl, Goldikova and Slim Shady have been entered in the two year old Guyana and West Indies bred event for a winning purse of $400,000 over 1100m.
A close battle is anticipated in the G3 and lower race with the likes of Battle Hymn, Bridal Stone Corner, Shooting Star, Traditional man, Red Cloud, Marathon Man, Cat Messiah, Super Bowl, Cassie, Monsoon and Gold Majesty which will also be run over 1400M and will see the winner taking away the $400,000 first prize.
The ‘I ‘class event has a winning tag of $260,000 and will be run over 1400M featuring Quincy, Easy To win, Famous Pride, I get Another, Mary Ann, Mid Night Blue, the Gump and Little among others.
The final event is for horses classified J and lower and victory in this event will see the champion taking home $200,000 in the 1100M race. Among the horses battling are Cattle King, Smarty Light, Royal Stallion, Dance For Gold, Sunny Silence, Million Dollar Man, Speed Vision, She is It, Red Jet and Magaline.
The Trophy Stall in Bourda Market will once again be sponsoring the champion jockey and trainer trophies. The race will be run under the rules of the Guyana Horse Racing Authority. Race time is 13:00 hrs. (Samuel Whyte)
