Residents of the St. Ann’s Orphanage, Bless the Children Home, Shaheed Girls Orphanage, Hope Children’s Home and the Sophia Care Center, gathered with the boys at the Sad’r Boys Orphanage in Kitty, to receive their free medical support from the team.
All of the children received care from the physicians and pediatrician on the team.
The orphans expressed their satisfaction with the quality of the medical services, and were jolly after receiving medical and dental supplies.
The dentists conducted many successful extractions, which saw minimum tears from the children. They also conducted cavity fillings and deep cleanings. Pharmacist, Saurabh Mehta said that each child was given over one month’s supply of vitamins. He said they were also supplied with medicine for worms, pain killers and antibiotics.
Pediatrician Partha Chatergee said that most of the orphans are healthy.
Yesterday, 11 year- old Sanjay Bismah, of Hope Children’s Home at Enmore, received sponsorship from President of Guyana Watch, Tony Yassin to undergo surgery for the removal of cataract in his eye.
Bismah, after receiving the news of his sponsorship remarked, “I thank God for answering my prayer.”
Yassin provided sponsorship for the surgery of two children thus far, during the medical outreach.
He also sponsored the surgery of 15 -year-old Narisa Gafoor from La Jalousie, West Coast Demerara,
who was diagnosed with a cleft pallet (a congenital split in the roof of the mouth). He said that the decision was made to sponsor the girl because she cannot eat properly and her family cannot afford the surgery.
He said that he was impressed with the level of commitment that his team has displayed at the clinics so far.
Yassin noted that all of his medical staff and volunteers sacrificed their time and money to bring medical support to the Guyanese people.
Commenting on the inspiration behind his service to Guyana, the President of Guyana Watch said, “If God gives to you, then you should give to the people, and do the best you can to help them. Don’t keep it all for yourself and forget the poor and needy.”
His team of medical professionals will be visiting Timehri tomorrow to continue their medical outreach at the Timehri Primary School.
