The Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) 75th Anniversary Committee, which is spearheading the board’s Diamond Jubilee celebration, is inviting essays from members of the Ancient County as part of the BCB 75th anniversary.
The essay competition is opened to youth between the ages of 14 – 25 years and persons are encouraged to submit essays on the topic, “Berbice Cricket Board 1939 – 2014 / 75 years of progress. Why I am proud to be a Berbice cricket fan”.
All essays must be original and must be between 500 – 700 words and must have the writer’s name, address and telephone number attached.
Chairman of the Anniversary Committee, Hilbert Foster is appealing to all youth in Berbice, especially those in schools to submit essays. Foster is also urging the various cricket clubs to get their members involved in the competition.
The writer of the winning essay would receive $50,000 and trophy, the 2nd prize is $30,000 and the 3rd, $20,000.
All essays must be submitted before Monday August 25th to the BCB Office, Dr. Cheddi Jagan Street, New Amsterdam or the RHTY&SC Office Area ’H’ ground, during working hours.
The club or school that the winning essay comes from would receive a prize of $10,000.
