Kerwyn Clarke proved beyond the shadow of a doubt that he is the most complete package in the bodybuilding arena in Guyana. The Buddy’s Gym member out foxed six other rivals to win the Mr. Guyana title for the second consecutive year when the Fitness Express/Guyana Amateur Body Building and Fitness Federation (GABBFF) held its marquee championship at the Theatre Guild on Saturday evening.
Mr. Guyana 2014 Kerwyn Clarke surrounded by GABBFF President Kevon Bess (2nd left) along with Fitness Express rep at left and Digital Technology’s rep at right.
Before a packed arena, Clarke, who had earlier won the Light Middleweight 166lbs – 176lbs category, outmuscling old rival Godfrey Stoby of GMR&SC Gym, was good enough in the Overall (clash of the category winners) showdown according to the judges to retain the Mr. Guyana crown.
Clarke, who will certainly lead Guyana’s delegation to this year’s CAC Bodybuilding Championships, staved off challenges from Sylvester Andrews (Total Fitness Gym) Welterweight 155lbs – 165lbs class; Devon Davis (GDF Gym) Bantamweight Under 143lbs; Alex Hamilton (Fitness Zone Gym) Heavyweight 177lbs & Over; Clint Duke (Total Fitness Gym) Masters Category 40 years & Over; Marlon Bennett (Extreme Fitness Club) Lightweight 144lbs – 154lbs and Sheed Totaram (Windero Gym – Berbice) Flyweight Under 132lbs winners of their respective categories.
Like Clarke, Alisha Fortune (GDF Gym) has surely etched her name in the history books also as the queen of the bodybuilding stage. She won the Miss Body Fitness title from Denzlyn Clarke (Home Gym).
Kerwyn Clarke received one 32″ TV as the overall winner’s prize, compliments of Digital Technology. All the category winners including Clarke were all presented with hampers from Fitness Express.
