Construction of a Secondary School at Zeeburg, West Coast Demerara, has been delayed since the Cabinet has rejected a $204M bid which was sent to it recently for its approval.
The announcement came this past week when Head of the Presidential Secretariat, Dr. Roger Luncheon updated the media.
According to Dr. Luncheon, he had incorrectly informed the media at a previous briefing that the $204M contract was not objected to.
Dr. Luncheon said that there was a problem with the Evaluation Committee since it was not properly constituted according to the rules and regulations that govern the composition of the committee.
“It would seem that the Evaluation Committee that considered the bids of the Tenders was not properly constituted.”
The next step he said would be up to the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board.
He opined that the Tender Board could reconstitute an Evaluation Committee and reassess the bids or they can retender the project.
