Orlando Van-Rossum was failed to reach the medal round at the Pan American Olympic Festival held in Puebla, Mexico, July 19-21 due to injuries; over 30 other countries competed at the Festival.
Even though Van-Rossum was unable to medal, being at a disadvantage due to him being about the lowest weight in his category, he remains high in spirit and is looking forward to his next international competition.
He lost the fight by a 6 – 2 margin. Van-Rosssum started the fight strong but was unable to move onto the medal round. The determined athlete has vowed to continue working hard in preparation for future engagements.
Van-Rossum is extending thanks to his coaches, instructors and fellow teammates at the Guyana Taekwondo Association, the staff at the Guyana Olympic Association for affording him the opportunity to represent his country on the international stage.
Meanwhile, the public is reminded that Taekwondo classes are held at the Guyana Teacher’s Union Hall, Woolford Avenue every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 17:00hrs to 18:30hrs.
