A high-level Parliamentary team led by Speaker of the House, Raphael Trotman, is in Barbados attending the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association’s 39th Annual Regional Conference of the Caribbean, the Americas and the Atlantic Region.
The conference which started last Friday is expected to end Saturday.
According to the Parliament Office, also there are Prime Minister Samuel Hinds, Minister of Housing and Water, Irfaan Ali, Members of Parliament, Dr. Rupert Roopnaraine, Dr. Vindhya Persaud, Catherine Hughes, Robin Motayne, Youth Parliamentarian and Jocette Bacchus, Clerk of Committee.
The conference is being held under the theme, “Forging Ahead in a Hostile Global Environment” at the Hilton Barbados, in Bridgetown.
According to the Parliament Office, it is being used as a tool to investigate progress made by the Branches of the Region in achieving “Benchmarks for Democratic Legislatures”.
During the eight-day period, the Guyanese delegation will be attending various sessions, including the Commonwealth Women Parliamentarians Conference, Regional Executive Committee Luncheon Meeting, the 39th Annual Conference of the Caribbean, the Americas and the Atlantic Region of the (CPA) and 10th Regional Youth Parliament Debate.
