…because assailant not arrested
Earlier this month, a Berbician was severely chopped to his head and feet, after he stopped to urinate in front of his assailant’s residence, on his way home.
Mohan Hemanchan, 50, was admitted to the New Amsterdam Hospital on July 2, after allegedly being attacked by a well known chicken farmer.
Hemanchan said that he was referred to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) two days after doctors at New Amsterdam reported him to be in a “critical state” and in need of better medical attention.
The man related that on July 2, about midnight, after he had consumed alcohol with friends at a bar in Whim, they began to journey home at “Portuguese Village” on their bicycles.
Hemanchan said that his friends were riding quickly on their way home, as it was very late, and they had to get home to their families. He mentioned that he decided to ride slowly since he “was a bit high”. Subsequently, he told his friends to ‘ride ahead’ without him.
The man said that he had an urge to urinate, and decided to do so “as fast as possible”, in front of the house of a known chicken farmer (name provided)
Hemanchan claims that the man sneaked up behind him while he was urinating, and dealt him a blow to his head, which left him semi-conscious. The man also claims that he was dragged into a chicken pen, where he was tied with barbed wire and dealt several chops to his feet by the chicken farmer.
“When I catch meself after I get chop, I end up tie in one of the man fowl pen, he tie my hand and foot with barbwire, and telling me how I come to thief he fowl,” Hemanchan recounted.
“After I keep telling he that I didn’t come to thief, but just to take a quick pee, he start chopping me all over me foot and I black out again,” the man related.
Hemanchan, who repairs bicycles for a living, said that he was rescued by public-spirited neighbours who responded after his screams were heard.
He claims that the assailant fled the scene when the neighbours came to his rescue.
Hemanchan said that he completely lost consciousness, and when he awoke again later that day, he found himself in the New Amsterdam hospital.
After he was discharged yesterday from GPHC, Hemanchan said that he is still fearful to return home because the chicken farmer has not been arrested by police, although the matter was reported by his (Hemanchan’s) wife.
