The Westminster Karate Club of Diamond East Bank Demerara took the gold medal in the Traditional Team event when the Best of the Best Martial Arts School’s First Annual Karate Championship was held on Sunday last at the National Gymnasium.
Shilow Sydney who represented the same Club copped gold in the individual 7-10 age group traditional Kata event.
The club has been invited to participate in a six-event Martial Arts tournament, August 22-23 at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall (CASH). Each person would have to pay $1,200 to enter each event.
The club is planning to enter all of the events and as such is seeking financial contributions from the Business Community and the public. Interested persons can contact Master Lloyd Ramnarine on 698 6727 and 673 0823; Assistant Sensie Steven Persaud on 226 1536 or Calvin Ramnarine on 685 9973.
The club wishes to thank Mike’s Pharmacy – Peter’s Hall, Andy Dental School – Back Street Peter’s Hall, July’s Jewellery and Pawn Shop and all those who contributed towards their participation in the last event.
Master Ramnarine informed that anyone between the ages of four years-old to 35 years-old interested in Karate, can contact any club member to register with the Club.
