Wellman XI overcame Don XI by six wickets to take the Mike’s Pharmacy softball
title on Friday night last at Demerara Cricket Club.
Batting first Don XI managed 109-5 of their allotted 15 overs. Samuel Kingston scored 45 and Oslyn Batson 30. Greg De Fracna and Mike Singh snared two wickets each. Wellman XI replied with 110-4 in 15 overs. Khalid Haslim led with 42 and De Franca scored 36. Mahase Chunilall captured 2-23.
Kingston received the best batsman award, De Franca the most outstanding bowler prize and Haslim the man of the match accolade.
The game was played in honour of overseas based Guyanese former secretary of the Guyana Softball and Windball Cricket Association Royston Ramsarran who thanked the teams and congratulated the winners. Trophies for the game were donated by Trophy Stall Bourda Market.
