Scott’s Jewellery and Variety Store yesterday continued its sponsorship of Boyce/Jefford
Sales Representative at Scott’s Jewellery and Variety Store, Savita Budhoo, hands over the sponsorship cheque to Chairman of the Boyce/Jefford Track and Field Committee, Colin Boyce yesterday at its 193 Charlotte Street, Bourda location.
Track and Field Classic, when it presented a cheque toward the hosting of the fifth edition of the track and field meet set for August 16-17 at Mackenzie Sports Club Ground, Linden.
“We sponsored this event last year and we had said that we plan on continuing in the future with this activity. This contribution means that we are keeping our commitment from last year to help the organisers develop the sport,” one of the Managers of Scott’s Jewellery, Steve Persaud, said following the presentation.
Chairman of the Management Committee of the Boyce/Jefford Track and Field Classic V, Colin Boyce, thanked the entity for their contribution, indicating that plans to host this year’s event are well advanced with the hope of continuing to improve the meet.
Apart from dolling out lucrative cash prizes to clubs and athletes, the Boyce & Jefford Track and Field Classic is aimed at continuing to establish a prominent place for athletics in Guyana, and as was evident last year, leading athletes from the Caribbean and North America scheduled for this year’s edition of the meet.
