Gambling has no friends and that adage was reinforced recently when two friends who were part of a gambling session got into an argument. It ended with one stabbing the other when they disagreed over money.
The disagreement resulted in Omesh Seelall called ‘Rovin’, 20, a Labourer of Betsy Ground, East Canje, Berbice, stabbing Nicholas William Wazir, with a pair of scissors causing him to be hospitalized. Seelall appeared on Friday at the Albion Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Rabindranauth Singh. He was refused bail.
Prosecutor Sergeant Philip Sheriff said that the two men are friends and would usually be gambling at various locations. On July 19, last, the two men had a disagreement over some money which the accused allegedly took from the victim the day before and refused to repay. As a result, Seelall became annoyed and stabbed Wazir.
The defendant later admitted to the stabbing. The victim attacked him and accused him of owing him $340. “I get vex and find a scissors on the ground and juk he. I see blood, ah get afraid and throw away the scissors. I sorry for wha happen.”
He was refused bail and remanded to jail until August 27, next, when the matter will be heard again at the Reliance Magistrate’s court.
