Having lost twice in as many final appearances, Waramadong Secondary School head coach Louie Thomas is using those setbacks as motivation to go all the way in this year’s Digicel Schools Football Competition.
Thomas made this disclosure to Kaieteur Sport following the completion of the team’s final practice session yesterday, at the Camp Ayanganna ground.
The head coach said they were extremely disappointed not to win at least one of the two finals they appeared in, but was using that to motivate the team which according to him was a very young one with only two players returning from last year’s squad.
The two players are Myles Albert and goalkeeper Gerald Isaacs, who have been with the team from the start of the tournament. Quizzed on what the session was about, Thomas disclosed that they worked on stringing together passes and playing as a unit.
“The team is a young one and fairly new to the tournament, but the encouraging thing about them is that they are enjoying playing together and are more confident now,” Thomas said.
Asked what could make the difference this time should they make the final, Thomas pointed to the previous losses as the motivating factor that makes them want to reach the top this time.
He mentioned how impressed he was with the team spirit which according to him is the reason they’ve made it this far.
Waramadong will face Beterverwagting Secondary School today, at the BV Community Centre ground from 15:30 hrs.
