DEAR EDITOR,
Mr Tarron Khemraj’s contention that Mr. Granger is the best person to build a multi-ethnic rainbow coalition is not based on the facts.
Mr. Khemraj must be aware that as Leader of the Opposition Mr. Granger does not visit Indian communities. Is he aware that under Mr Granger the number of Indians in the Central Executive of the PNCR has declined?
Where are Clarissa Riehl, Kads Khan, Cammie Ramsaroop, et al? Where are Stanley Ming and Dave Danny? Could Mr. Khemraj say if he knows that George Norton is about to be moved from the Executive of the PNCR?
A look at the APNU benches in Parliament will reveal that the lowest component of Indians placed in Parliament by any PNCR leader is Granger. The PNCR benches in parliament have Amna Ally and Ronald Bulkan. The other Indian is Rupert Roopnaraine, who rumour has it that Mr. Granger hardly speaks to.
I am by no means prominent, but I am an Indian of long standing in the PNCR and one who believes that the party has a lot of persons in it that are inclusive and can build a rainbow coalition, but Mr. Granger’s record doesn’t fit the bill.
Some Indians in the party can tell you about the behaviour of Mr Granger’s supporters and the racist attitude they displayed at that congress that caused another Indian in the party from Wakenaam not to renew his membership.
I love my party but I must submit it is the worst era in the Party as it relates to race relations. Mr Corbin’s era is by far better in race relations in the party than Mr Granger’s era. Carl Greenidge as a leader in the PNCR is the best person to build a coalition.
