Guyana’s ‘Junior Jaguars’ battled back from a goal down to earn an equal share of the
points when completion in the Caribbean Football Union Under-17 Qualifying competition kicked off with Group 3 play on Friday last at the Estadio Panamericano in San Cristobal, Dominican Republic.
In a compact performance from the young Guyanese against the lads from the Land of the Flying Fish, Barbados, substitute Keno Washington, who is the only player in the team with experience from the previous side, drew his country level after they fell behind.
Washington rocked the nets in the 61st minute much to the delight of his teammates. Guyana had found themselves trailing from the fourth minute of the second half after a 0-0 first half. The Bajans took the lead through Antone Greaves.
The days feature game between host nation Dominican Republic and Antigua & Barbuda ended in a 0-0 stalemate.
Today, the Junior Jaguars will take on Antigua & Barbuda in the first game at 14:00hrs with the main attraction between Dominican Republic and Barbados.
