The Bush Lot United Turf of Sea View Park, Bush Lot Village West Coast Berbice, since returning to competitive Horseracing under the guidance of the diligent re-migrant Guyanese, Lakeram ‘Buddy’ Sukhdeo, has been moving in strides. Having already achieved the rare review of being the most improved entity (facility and track) over the years, the principals hope to make it the best in the future.
With that in focus the authorities are giving it their all as the push in final preparations for the big meet on Sunday 20th is underway. With most of the sprucing up work already completed including massive infrastructure renovation. The authorities are focusing on the track, with digging, filling, grading and rolling being done to get it in the best of shape. The authorities are also redesigning the turns and rails to make it easier for the horses.
The eight-race meet has a total prize package of over $7M in cash, trophies and other incentives up for the taking. With just a few days remaining before race day more that 60 horses have entered for the meet with most of the big stables onboard with multiple entries.
The big Jumbo Jet and Chattergoon Racing entities again lead the way with Jack is My Style, Africanist, Princess Alicia, and Release the Beast, Settling Jet, Rosetta, I want Revenge and Weekend Surprise being confirmed so far.
Other entries show the Elcock/Poonai stable with Mission King, The Message, Sweet Return and Traditional man; The Inshan Bacchus Stable has Unsettled, City Tune, Storm Bird and Ameera’s Joy; the Shariff Stable will see the return of Settle In Seattle along with California Strike and Compador among others; The Jagdeo Stable with Goodwill Boy, Time to dance and Isabella; The Vibert Stable already has Work Force, Young Elite and Secret Escape; the Crawford stable is expected to be represented by Monsoon, Bridal Stone Corner and Savion; the Nigh Eyes Stables has thrown In Red and Lovely and De Gump with the Persaud Stable confirming Million Dollar Man and Gold Majesty. Other top horses such as Fresh Again, Cat Messiah and War Craft are expected to be on show.
The Shariff Racing entity has also joined the list of sponsors along with Arjune Singh and Rohan Oudit joining those already on board including Banks DIH Limited, Buddy Shivraj, Jumbo Jet, Inshan Bacchus Trucking Service, Lakeram ‘Buddy’ Sukhdeo, Steve Jewelry World and Friends, Shariff Business Establishment and Racing Stable, Phaghoo General Store of Bush Lot and Shamkumar Chattergoon.
The Feature race will be for horses classified ‘D’ and lower with the animals set to cover a distance of 1400M. The winner is set to take home a whopping $1M and trophy.
The other events are the F and lower 1400M event for a winning purse of $500,000 and trophy.
The three Year old 1200M West Indies bred animals’ battle for a first prize of $400,000 and trophy.
The two year old West Indies Bred horses will gallop for $400,000 and trophy over 1000M.
The G3 and lower 1200M event has a winning purse of the $300,000 and trophy.
The ‘I’ and lower event is another 1200M affair for a winning purse of $250,000 and trophy.
The J class match up will see the winner pocketing $200,000 and trophy over 1400M.
The final event is the unclassified 1200M race for a winner’s take of $150,000 and trophy.
The individual performers including top jockey, stable and trainer will be presented with trophies and other incentives.
