DEAR EDITOR,
Here’s congratulating the Guyana Chess Federation for finally getting Guyana back on the international chess scene.
I took many a year, with all praises to the determined players to display Guyana’s mettle and to the government for their assistance at various levels in the past.
The officials in the Guyana Chess Federation are strong both in their abilities at play and at following chess play internationally.
Every success to the team, but take heed team players, international chess play is totally different from local competitions. Some of the royal rules quietly disappear. Intrigue sets in. Alliances are sought and promises extracted. Winning at play in any manner becomes obsessive. And worst of all, the team in front becomes an object to crush.
Every success to the team and the coach who will have a tough task to handle, before and after game play. I will be watching and hoping for the best.
