GMR&SC International Drag Race Meet Ramchand aiming to continue his reign at the top
Reigning Drag champion Anand Ramchand has sent out an ominous warning to the rest of the competition that he is aiming to continue his dominance come Sunday when the Guyana Motor Racing & Sports Club (GMR&SC) stages its International Drag Race Meet this Sunday, at the South Dakota Circuit.
Ramchand was speaking with this newspaper yesterday when he made the bold prediction in the presence of old rivals Sanjay Persaud, the Daby brothers Rondell and Peter and Ryan Dhanram.
The champ disclosed that he will be piloting four cars including a Toyota Supra, Mitsubishi Evolution, Toyota Vitz and a Toyota Celica.

He said that while he expects the opposition to be better prepared this time, he too has done quite a lot of work on his machines to ensure that they perform to the maximum that will guarantee his reign is not interrupted.
Meanwhile, according to a source close to the Club, the event is anticipated to be graced by dragsters from Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago and fans could expect exhilarating action throughout the day as the locals attempt to represent home turf against the strong foreign invasion.
Ramchand promised the fans a day when existing records could be challenged and possibly bettered.
The other big names expected to represent the ‘Land of Many Waters are Syed Ali and Danny Persaud.
The Superbikers are also expected to add to the excitement and Stephen Vieira, Carlos Rodrigues, Carey Griffith will be looking to not only outdo each other as they battle for outright supremacy.
Additionally, race fans will have the opportunity to witness the Porta Tree Timing System which is equipped with specialized starting lights that allow quarter mile speeds to be recorded.
Races commence at 09:00 hrs and admission for adults is $1000, while children are $500 and vehicles free.
The day’s activities also come with the compliments of Banks DIH Ltd.
