Dear Sports Editor,
I refer to the recent press release issued by Mr. Vic Odit. Assuming but not admitting, that Mr. Odit is still President of the Guyana Horse Racing Authority, it is my view that he cannot suspend or dismiss the Secretary of the Authority as that function resides with the Executive of the Authority.
As far as I am aware, no meeting of the Executive was held for this purpose. The relationship is not one of master and servant between Mr. Odit and the Secretary and he cannot summarily dismiss or suspend her.
The attempt by Mr. Odit to humiliate the Secretary is quite out of place. Ms. Zenzie Goring has been Secretary of the Authority for over two years and has always performed her duties in a satisfactory manner. She has not received one cent. Her service is voluntary.
On many occasions she used her motor vehicle to travel long distances to attend meetings of the Authority without being reimbursed her expenses. The attack by Mr. Odit on her is quite unfair.
I rest my case.
