Guyanese racecar driver Rupie Shewjattan headlined a one two for the Land of Many Waters as he
and Danny Persaud took the top podium spots in the first race of opening leg of the newly-formed Caribbean Motor Racing Association (CMRA) race meet at the Bushy Park race track in Barbados yesterday.
Competing in Group 4 and driving a Mitsubishi Evolution 5, Shewjattan starting from the back of the grid after failing to qualify, stormed through the field to win the first race on the newly relayed Bushy Park racetrack, followed home by Persaud.
The pair will be in action against today and will be seeking more outstanding results. Shewjattan is sponsored by Auto Fashion among others.
Other members in the Guyana contingent competing at this meet are: Group 4- Kevin and Kristian Jeffrey, Andrew King and Vishok Persaud, Group 2- Shairaz Roshandin, Chet Singh, John Joseph and Andre Dhanraj, while the Superbikers are Nikhil Seereeram, Matthew Vieira, Carlos Mendonca and Nicholas Boodram.
