Dear Editor,
And they claim that Guyanese are the most hospitable people…I have heard that statement one million times and Guyana having its acting Foreign Minister/Minister of Education (Priya Manickhand) insulting the outgoing US Ambassador D.Brent Hardt at his residence for a farewell reception has me wondering about many things.
Guyana on the other hand has its inaugural “Guyana Festival 2014” slated for August 2014 and I was under the impression that one of Guyana’s main focus in attracting visitors to this side of the globe was always North Americans, but after that drama, I am not so sure that Guyana will witness the large number of overseas visitors which were expected to grace this National Event which is hosted by the Ministry of Youth, Culture & Sport.
What happens if overseas based artistes ( I think a few mentioned to perform are based overseas) decide to boycott this event because of this national embarrassment.
Can we now understand the reason why it would be difficult to ever have Guyanese born and International renowned singer Mr.Eddy Grant grace his presence for a concert?
Can we also see the reason why Guyana is becoming more difficult to market to the globe?
