Host of the 2014 Caribbean Basketball Confederation (CBC) Championships, British Virgin Islands (BVI) thrashed Guyana 99-63 Tuesday night in the feature game of the commencement of the Men’s competition in Tortola.
H. Chiverton scored 17 points while R. Cann had 16 points, nine assists and five rebounds to lead BVI to an opening win at home. S. Parillon and N. Carey had 12 points each with D. Blyden adding 11 points in a complete BVI team effort.
For Guyana, Asia-based forward, Gordon Klaiber, who plays in Japan, led with 17 points, while former NBA player, Rawle Marshall chipped in with 12 points and five assists. Andrew Ifill and Akeem Kanhai had eight points apiece with five and six rebounds respectively.
Meanwhile, Guyana lost 95 – 75 against the defending Champions USVI. Rawle Marshall had a game high 23 points, 8 rbs, 5 asst, 1 steal, Andrew Ifill had 14pts, 9 rbs, Gordon Klaiber 13 pts and Shane Webster 10 pts, 7rbs.
