The Britton siblings copped three first places at last Sunday’s Banks Malta Supreme sponsored Junior Karate Championships organized by the Guyana Wado Ryu Karate Association at Banks DIH Sports Club, Thirst Park.

Sadelle Britton won in the 6-8 girls category, winning from Mandy Moe and Farida Sultan who placed second and third respectively.
Shay Britton secured first place in the boys 9-11 (Category ‘A’) with Shaun Jemott claiming the second position and Leonard Garraway third.
The 12-14 girls division was won by Samela Britton who overcame Shania DeGroot.
Emmanuel Campbell was the winner of the 6-8 boys (Category ‘B’) with Trevaun Smartt securing second and Brandon Rutherford third.
The boys 6-8 ‘A’ category was won by Stephon Prince who came out ahead of Akeino Abrams and Dakari Jones.
Nandanie Kuldip won the girls 9-11 division from Alicia Benjamin and Towanna Success, while the boys’ 9-11 division – (Category ‘B’) saw Lakeram Persaud coming out ahead of Shamar Michael and Kensell Davis.
Simeon Campbell triumphed in the Boys 12-14 with Dwight Peters finishing second and Shaun Campbell third.
Students of Mae’s School, Eccles Primary, East Bank Essequibo and Banks dojos participated in the tournament.
Banks DIH Communications Manager Troy Peters, who declared the championships open, encouraged the students to be disciplined and focused in their pursuit of excellence. He urged the young karatekas to balance karate with a sound education.
Prizes were presented by Chief Instructor Sensei Winston Dunbar, President of the GWKA Darren Nurse, parents and well-wishers who witnessed the championships.
