Police are questioning the husband of the 22-year-old Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara housewife who was shot on Friday by a gunman who said he was looking for her spouse.
Kaieteur News understands that the detained man, Davendra Singh, known as ‘Fry Fish’, has stated that the gunman fits the description of an individual that he owes $4,000. However, police appear to be skeptical of the detained man’s story. Kaieteur News understands that Singh has had previous brushes with the law for petty theft.
The man’s wife, Aneesia Pharous, was shot in the foot at around 15.00 hrs on Friday by a man who barged into the couple’s Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara home to find her reputed husband.
The gunman had repeatedly asked for her spouse, Davendra Singh.
A friend of the injured woman told Kaieteur News that she was in her yard when a man on a bicycle entered the area and immediately began enquiring about Pharous’ reputed husband.
“He ask where is ‘Fry Fish’ and he scramble a boy in the yard and asking him for ‘Fry Fish,’” the woman said.
Kaieteur News understands that the gunman apparently mistook the young man for Pharous’ reputed husband and discharged a round that narrowly missed his victim. Aneesia Pharous, who was in her house, said that the youth then went on his knees and denied that he was ‘Fry Fish.’
Pharous said that the gunman then told the youth to “go and find Fry Fish wife.’ She said the intruder then barged into her house, grabbed her by the hair and began enquiring about her husband.
After she told him that ‘Fry Fish’ was not there, the intruder shot her in the left foot before fleeing on a bicycle. He was still at large up to yesterday.
