The 2014 Mackeson ‘Keep Your Five Alive’ Futsol Champions, West Front Road were officially handed the Championship trophy and prizes yesterday at Ansa McAl Headquarters with Captain, Hubert Pedro, revelling in reaping revenge against Sparta Boss.
“The tournament was challenging and we can’t take anything away from Sparta. They are a good team and it was a good final. We won all our games on penalty kicks and we didn’t concede any goals in the tournament,” he said.
“They defeated us last year and now we won this year that makes it 1-1 between us, so we are looking forward to facing Sparta again” added Pedro. Sparta Boss had defeated West to win the title last year.
Sparta’s Jerome Richardson said that the tournament started on a good note and they wanted to reach the final. He noted, “It was a good tournament and we will work harder to get to the final next year”.
Mackeson Brand Coordinator, Jamal Douglas said that the tournament was a success and like the captains had said “the competition has improved” and Mackeson is looking forward to continue supporting community sports. He said the fifth edition will be bigger.
West Front Road pocketed $300,000 for winning after dethroning Sparta Boss 3-2 on penalty kicks, following a nil-all score at the end of normal and extra time. West also received football turfs and cleats from Colours Boutique and Clairans respectively; they also got football socks and balls compliments of Footsteps Megamall.
