For the fifth successive year, the Guyana Olympic Association (GOA) and the Guyana
Cycling Federation (GCF) has hosted a successful BMX Meet at the National Park in observance of International Olympic Day which would be celebrated tomorrow, worldwide.
GOA Assistant Secretary General Deion Nurse in brief remarks after the event congratulated the participants while urging them to continue doing their best. He noted that the GOA and the IOC were very happy to partner with the GCF to bring off another event of this nature which showcased young talent.
The youngest participant yesterday was 4-year-old Jessica Mohabir. GCF President Ms. Cheryl Thompson in her remarks also thanked the participants for coming out to make the event another success. Gratitude was also extended to the GOA.
Also in attendance were GOA Vice President Dr. Karen Pilgrim and Secretary General, Hector Edwards, a former National cyclist.

International Olympic Day is celebrated all around the world: hundreds of thousands of people – young and old – participate in sports activities, such as runs, exhibitions, music and educational seminars.
Over the last two decades, the event has helped to spread the Olympic ideals to every corner of the world.
