Bail was yesterday set to the tune of $50,000 for a 23-year-old hotel clerk who was brought before the city court to be charged for allegedly stealing from Pegasus Hotel.
Javone Nelson was accused of stealing six bottles of Hennessy from the hotel while he was employed there as a clerk.
He admitted to the offence and asked the court to be lenient. Nelson claimed that he had been working for the hotel for over a year and that he was a first-time offender. He also offered to repay the entity for the alcohol.
Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry who presided over the matter ordered a probation report be prepared for Nelson. She said that after it is presented, the court will hand down its decision in the matter.
The case is set to be called again on July 11.
