East Ruimveldt Secondary School defeated Berbice High School 4-2 in a female encounter when the semi-finals of the Scotiabank/Pepsi School Football Academy tournament concluded at the Esplanade Ground, New Amsterdam, Berbice yesterday afternoon, while Berbice Educational Institute prevailed over Charlestown Secondary 2-1on penalty kicks in a male encounter.
Mary Ann Roach led with a double in the 27th and 57th minutes for the East Ruimveldt Secondary School with support from Christine Thomas (42) and Dacaycia Norville (48) from the penalty spot, while Ayana Kellman netted 18 seconds into the game and Abigail Walker (40) to narrow the lead albeit in a losing cause. Berbice Education Institute and Charlestown Secondary played to a nil all stalemate in regulation time before penalty kicks were taken to decide the winner.
Activities will now move to Linden on Saturday June 22. Uitvlugt will take on Wisburg Secondary, while MacKenzie High will battle with North Georgetown Secondary in a female semi-final fixture. Wisburg will then play Uitvlugt Secondary, while North Georgetown and Mackenzie High will square off in a male encounter.
