President Donald Ramotar paid a visit to the relatives of Latoya Bagot, 18, her sister Tabitha Bagot, 15, both of Lot 16 Phillipi, Corentyne and their niece, three-year-old Shemaine Cort on Saturday. They were killed last Wednesday night while walking along the Phillipi Public Road. The incident occurred around 18:30 hrs.

“We want the family to know that we know what they are going through during these trying times. It is impossible to stop the grief because of the loss of lives, but [I am here] at least, to offer support and let them know that the entire country is also mourning with them,” President Ramotar said on Saturday.
There were members of the community who also turned up to sympathize with the relatives of the bereaved.
“Whatever assistance we can give we will try to help during the course of the week,” Region Six Chairman Armogan stated. The Region Six Administration, he noted, stands prepared to assist the relatives with funeral arrangements. The girls will be buried on Sunday. “We will shape up the burial ground road, the road is in a bad state,” he added. The Region Six RDC will also assist them with tents, etc.
