The Guyana Volleyball Federation (GVF) through its President, Commander John Flores handed over 50 balls and 10 nets to Mr. Anil Roberts from the Ministry of Amerindian Affairs to jump start the Hinterland Volleyball Programme for 2014.
This being one of the many plans the President would have outlined when appointed last December 2013.
According to Mr. Anil Singh, the Principal Regional Development Officer, the gears will be distributed to hinterland communities with a high population and those who show a high level of interest and potential.
He also stated that there is always demand coming from hinterland communities for sports gears and equipment.
To complement this programme the GVF also donated the same quantity of balls and nets to the Ministry of Culture Youth and Sports to fast track the Community Programme. The first community that will benefit from this programme will be St. Cuthbert Mission and they were scheduled to receive their equipment yesterday.
