150 Years Sports, a school of Life Award, the Award is named after the founder of the International
Olympic Committee, Pierre De Coubertin. Charwayne Walker was recommended by the Guyana Olympic Association for the award for his contributions to sport via research and publishing stats and facts of teams and individuals over the years.
Starting out writing several letters to the Kaieteur News sports section, Walker eventually started doing several articles retracing various performances of the regional and Guyanese teams in Cricket, football and basketball.
His pieces have been looked forward to by sport aficionados and have been the cause for many debates and even settling arguments and a learning experience for many.
Walker was presented with the award by Prime Minister Samuel Hinds on May 9th, 2014 at the Guyana Olympic Association Awards Ceremony at Georgetown Club.
Walker would like to extent heartfelt thanks to Mr Ivor O’Brian and Members of the Guyana Olympic Association for his contribution to Sports in Guyana and the Region. The Kaieteur Sports also came in for mention for affording him to enlighten fans and bring back memories of the outstanding performances of our regional and Guyana sports heroes.
