The 2014 New Building Society Limited Second Division 40- Over Cricket Competition in Berbice continued recently.
Highlights of the latest matches were the outstanding bowling performances of No. 73 Young Warriors bowlers, pacer Lakeram Latchman and left arm spinner Claude Felix who took 5 for 13 and 5 for 12 respectively to bowl out Crabwood Creek for 64 in 13.4 overs, Latchman then opened the batting and saw the Warriors to a 10-wicket victory.
Former Berbice Under-17 off spinner Javan Ali took 6 for 23 from 6.4 overs to help Skeldon Community Centre restrict No. 69 Red Rose to 136 with Persaud Chaitram hitting 56. When Skeldon replied, former Berbice Under 19-all-rounder Parmanand Narine stroked 55 to guide them to an 8 wicket win.
After Clavern Beresford’s 54 put Corriverton on the road to a total of 222 in 28 overs against Crabwood Creek Risings, the latter team’s No. 7 batsman, Darshan Challitar blasted 54 (3 fours and 7 sixes) but in vain as they could only reply with 163 in 25 overs.
Other batsmen registering half centuries were, Govindasammy Kishnasammy of Tain Block Four, Dave Peters of Letterkenny, Andesh Danroop of No. 43 Scorpion, Mahmood Khan of No. 70 M.Y.O, Naeem Yacoob of No. 70 A and Parmeshwar Chatterpaul of No. 70 Young Star.
