– Charities to get cash donations
Three children charities will benefit when the 17th Annual Scotiabank Golf Tournament tees off today June 14, 2014 at the Lusignan Golf Club, East Coast Demerara.
Natascha Hamilton (left), Senior Manager Corporate and Commercial Banking Centre, presents the sponsorship cheque to Secretary of the Lusignan Golf Club in the presence of bank and club officials.
Apart from winning trophies and golf gear, for the third consecutive year, the top three players will receive as part of their prize package, a donation towards a children’s charity of their choice under the Bank’s Bright Future Programme. The cash donations are $150,000, $100,000 and $75,000 for the first, second and third place respectively.
The Scotiabank tournament is the only one with a philanthropic component. The inclusion of charitable donations in the golf sponsorship is to encourage stakeholders to be as passionate as Scotiabankers are about giving our children a bright future.
Under its Global Bright Future programme, the Bank channels funds and employee volunteer hours towards initiatives that benefit children in the areas of education, health, social well-being and sports.
Scotiabank is asking all golfers to indicate at the time of registration, which cause benefitting children they will be playing for.
Scotiabank is a leading financial services provider in over 55 countries and Canada’s most international bank. Through Bright Future, our global philanthropic programme, Scotiabank and its employees support causes at a grassroots level across six pillars: health, education, social services, arts and culture, environment and sports.
Recognized as a leader for our charitable donations and philanthropic activities, Scotiabank has contributed on average some $50 million annually over the last five years to community causes around the world.
