DEAR EDITOR,
No charge has been laid and after months now I am left with a slingshot broken window, and an irate father who refuses or does not have the money to replace the window – although he gives his son full permission to slingshot the residential neighbourhood because he prefers his son to do this rather than be at the street corner doing drugs.
In the presence of parents this was the regular after school activity of this loveable child. Why are parents not responsible for the act of their child, even when they give their permission and as a result damage is caused?
It seems that I, a retired pensioner, have to pay for their son’s damage to my property.
A whole window was there before it was broken. Now half of that window exists.
With high winds and heavy rainfall, pasted panes of glass may deteriorate and eventually fall out.
It is almost four months now and the Bartica Police cannot put a case together and send it to the DPP for advice. Presently, since the Officer in Charge has been transferred, no one knows where my file is.
Justice delayed is justice denied. Is this the reason why people take justice in their own hands?
