…TNT win GDA tourney
Golyn and Sons Fashion of Robb Street and Stabroek Market, two-in-one-out Father’s Day dominoes tournament is set to kick start on June 15 at Little Mark Boutique, Festival City, North Ruimveldt.
The winning team will collect a trophy and $100,000, the runner up $40,000, third place $20,000 while the most outstanding player of the final will pocket $3,000. One re-entry will be allowed and action gets under way at 14:30 hrs. The finals will be played on June 15 at the said venue.
Speaking at the launching of the tournament at its Stabroek Market branch yesterday, Manager of Goyln and Sons Ryan Boodhoo who presented the sponsorship cheque of an undisclosed amount to Secretary of the Georgetown Dominoes Association (GDA) Mark Wiltshire said that he is happy to be part of the sport adding that the tournament promises to be an exciting one.
Among the teams slated to take part are Rage, Mix Up, TNT, Pacesetters, Double Duce, Scramblers and West Side.
Meanwhile, TNT chalked 91 games to win the Guyana Dominoes Federation tournament which was held on Sunday last at Gaulding Place, South Ruimveldt. Providence placed second with 62 games followed by Cody Girls on 52.
Dane Bynoe and Ryan Boodhoo made the maximum 18 games each for the winners while Junior Smith scored 16 for Providence; Claire Benjamin and Noreen Kennedy marked 15 apiece for Cody Girls.
