Dear Editor,
It is with deep regret and shock that I learnt of the passing of Roger Moore a gallant radio and television personality.
It was only Wednesday last that I had the opportunity of conversing with him via telephone, where in spite of being hospitalized he spoke with strength and in a spirited manner.
I was impressed with his frankness, he would have represented himself well, ‘his own words he did it his way’
One person who possessed such natural talent and ability to sell a story to complex audiences was Roger Moore, with his deep, resonant voice, possessed boundless energy and a big enthusiasm over Guyana’s future. He was a class act who worked hard to shift the one-sided narrative on our beloved country.
Broadcasting is a natural talent, and those who have it, they easily become household names. As we bid him farewell we know that he has gone to join the great broadcasters like Matthew Allen, Christopher Dean, Johnny Barrow, Ayube Hamid, Pancho Carew, Ian Willabus, Wordsworth Mc Andrews, Bertie Chancellor, Hugh Chomondeley, Moses Hussain, Oswald Singh, Terry Holder, Clem David, and Pat Cameron, among others.
Our prayers and thoughts are with the family, friends and colleagues that he left behind.
Rest in peace my brother!
Hamilton Green, J.P.,
Mayor
