Police at Mahdia are on the hunt for a man who shot dead a 30-year old miner early Tuesday morning following a heated argument.
Dead is Devon Anderson, of Jonestown, Mahaica, East Coast Demerara. He was killed about 7:00 hours at Blackwater Landing, Konawaruk, Potaro.
Police say that their investigations have revealed that Anderson and the other man were involved in an argument during which he was shot and killed.
Kaieteur News understands that no one saw when Anderson was shot but persons heard the gunshot and rushed to the area from whence the sound came.
Upon arrival there they saw Anderson lying with a shotgun wound to his back.
Persons in the area had reportedly heard Anderson earlier arguing with the man who police are now hunting.
The man is known to brazenly carry an illegal shotgun with him while traversing the mining district.
The matter was reported to the police and Anderson’s body was taken to the Mahdia Hospital mortuary where it is awaiting a post mortem examination.
