Rabindra Ramnauth, a/k “Kenrick, the Anna Regina contractor who stabbed 58-year-old Edward Williams, a/k “Strong Man” to the left of his chest resulting in the labourer’s death on Sunday night, is scheduled to make his first appearance today, at the Suddie Magistrate’s court.
Police at the Anna Regina Police Station had sought advice from the Director of Public Prosecution before instituting the capital charge of murder against Ramnauth.
Ramnauth, a carpenter is the father of two young girls.
Initial reports have indicated that both Williams and Ramnauth were imbibing alcohol at a popular bottom house rum shop “Flower Lady”, at Anna Regina Squatting area when an argument ensued between the two. The issue was the just concluded finals of the Indian Premier League that featured Kolkata Knight Riders and Kings XI Punjab.
As a result, Williams sustained a deep stab to his left side chest and was transported to the Suddie Public Hospital for medical attention. He died several hours later.
A Post Mortem examination report performed on Williams on Tuesday by Dr. Nehaul Singh revealed that Williams died from hemorrhage due to a stab wound to the heart.
Williams, formerly of Lima Sands, Essequibo Coast, worked as a labourer with various persons within the community. He fathered three girls.
