Baron Foods Limited, a Guyanese-owned St-Lucian-based brand, through its flagship product, Baron West Indian Hot Sauce,
has been awarded with the Superior Taste Award by leading international culinary chefs during the recent International Taste and Quality Institute (iTQi), in Belgium.
The “iTQi Superior Taste Award” is the only stamp of quality in taste granted by food and drink opinion leaders that includes chefs and other experts from all over the world.
According to Baron Foods, products submitted to the jury of iTQi are “blind-tested” by a panel of culinary experts, using rigorous sensory analysis procedures. Criteria such as smell, vision, taste, after taste, texture etc. are all taken into account by each jury member.
A company honored with “The Superior Taste Award” earns the right to market their products using the signature blue and yellow label for up to a period of three years. iTQi affirms that “its visibility brings an immediate differentiation amongst the vast choice of marketed products and reassures consumers in their buying decision”.
The company, owned by Ronald Ramjattan, insisted that this year’s acknowledgment by the international culinary experts is yet another corroboration of the superior taste and quality of Baron Foods’ sauces that are recognized by the St. Lucian consumers every day.
“Out of the 1,250 applications for the Superior Taste award submitted by companies from around the world, Baron Food’s Limited succeeded as the only company in the island of St. Lucia and the wider Caribbean region that ranks itself among the world’s most elite brands which have been honored with golden stars for superior taste and quality this year.”
An entrepreneur and chemist by profession, with over twenty- two years of experience in the
agro processing industry, Ramjattan was very confident about the win for Baron West Indian Hot Sauce.
The company’s sauces, condiments, flavorings, dressings, mayonnaise and spices are manufactured under stringent FSSC 22000 protocols and are well received in Canada, the USA, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Slovakia, Guyana and the entire English, French and Dutch-speaking islands of the Caribbean.
