Zeeburg thumped Leonora by seven wickets to retain the West Demerara United Cricket League/ Barakat Brothers and Odyssey Transport Service T/20 title recently at West Meten-Meer-Zorg Center Ground.
Batting first after winning the toss Leonora struggled to 39 for 2 after 10 overs, but eventually managed 141 for 7 from their allotted 20 overs.
Guyana under- 15 Player Malcolm Hubbert entertained the fair size crowd, with a vital 41 off 34 ball including 3 fours and 2 maximums. Imtiaz Hack complied 25 off 30 deliveries, Cornelius Danashire supported with 21 (3×6) and Wazim Singh 15 not out.
Bowling for Zeeburg, Timur Mohamed claimed 2-18 and Amit Jairam 2-22.
In reply Zeeburg were reduced to 56 for 3 in nine overs, but eventually reached their target of 142 for 4 in 16.1 overs. Skipper Mandalall Doodnarine smashed 57 not out off 23 delivers aided with six fours and four sixes while Yetesh Dhanpaul supported with 34 (1×4,2×6).
Bowling for Leonora Hemandra Kowlassar grabbed 2 wickets for 16 runs.
