Residents of Glasgow Housing Scheme, East Bank Berbice, are calling for appropriate action after a man blasted a resident’s dog with a shotgun in broad daylight. And after the man was arrested he boasted of his political connections and was released hours later and the shotgun returned to him.
The residents are making a special appeal to the representatives of the Guyana Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (GSPCA), located at 65 Robb Street and Orange Walk, Bourda, to look into the matter.
They are calling the attack which occurred around 15:30 hrs on Thursday at Glasgow, New Housing Scheme, a blatant case of cruelty.
According to information the shooter, Eshram Rambarran, 65, called “Kumbra”, Lot 7 Edinburgh, East Bank Berbice, rears sheep that would roam the neighbouring villages, destroying residents’ crops in the process.
On the day in question the animals were about the villages roaming when they were attacked by some dogs. The owner quickly arrived on the scene armed with a 12-gauge shot gun and in the presence of residents took aim and shot one of the dogs.
He was arrested after the matter was reported and placed in custody and his gun lodged, but not before boasting of his political connections and threatening that he will make some phone calls. Mere hours later, he was released from custody and his firearm returned.
