Philadelphia Primary created the day’s biggest upset, beating three times defending
champions Leonora Primary to book a place in the semi finals in the male category of the West Coast Demerara/ East Bank Essequibo zone of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport/National Sports Commission Al Sport and Tour Promotions schools overhand Windball tournament played recently at Uitvlugt.
Leonora batted first and scored 52-1 with Heesham Outar scoring 27 and Aryann Batool 14.
Philadelphia replied with 55-1. Amos Baird slammed 26 (4x6s).
Windsor Forest Primary beat Blake Primary by four runs. Windsor Forest took first strike and managed 62-1. Srinivas Chatram 19, Vishan Sirpaul 16 and Ushardeva Balgobin 11 were their main batters.
Blake Primary mustered 58-1 in reply. Nickolas Persaud made 14 and Hariesh Dhaniram 12.
Meten Meer Zorg Primary overcame Den Amstel Primary by 18 runs. Meten Meer Zorg posted 62-1, batting first. Dhanraj Ramjattan stroked 24 and Colwyn Williams 11. Den Amstel Primary (The Best Uniform team) responded with 57-1, Jowel Robinson scored 26.
Tuschen Primary 44-3 went down to Uitvlugt Primary by six wickets. Tuschen scored 44-3, taking first strike. Fawaz Baksh and Collis Clark made 13 each. Bowling for Uitvlugt Primary Raynard Nedd claimed 3-1.
Uitvlugt in reply made 45-4. Raynard Nedd cracked 15 and Malcom Dainty 12. Nicolas Klass took 2-3 and Sidarth Ramcharran 2-4 bowling for Tuschen.
In the female division, Blake Primary defeated Den Amstel Primary by nine wickets. Den Amstel batted first and scored 38-2 with Prudence Hilliman scoring 11 and Alicia Haywood 10.
Blake replied with 39-1. Sarah Salim made 10.
Defending Champs Leonora got the better of Philadelphia by four runs. Leonora batted first and made 46-3 with Kimerle Duncan hitting 20 and Narisa Chand 12.
Philadelphia in reply were restricted to 42-0. Otshell Douglas stroked 15.
Uitvlugt Primary beat Tuschen Primary by one run. Uitvlugt scored 25-5 with Merissa Carroll making 10. Rebekah Renee snared 2-2, Michella Gill 2-4.
Tuschen Primary in reply were restricted to 24-3, Shakira Narine made 10.
Meanwhile the Upper East Coast Demerara matches will continue on Tuesday May 27 at the Unity/Lancaster Ground from 10:30 hrs.
