Gibson and Helena recorded victories when the Upper East Coast Demerara leg of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport/National Sports Commission Al Sport and Tour Promotions windball tournament continued recently at Unity Lancaster ground.
Playing in the male category, Gibson overcame Ann’s Grove by five runs in their semi final game. Gibson after been invited to bat made 67-0 with Reon Waldron scoring 42 (5×4,2×6) and Saif Khan 18.
Ann’s Grove replied with 61. Lawrence Pelew made 34 and Myles Denny 22.
Helena beat Clonbrook by three runs in their match up. Helena managed 39-3, batting first with Devon Thomas getting 16.
Clonbrook made 36-5 in reply. Mark Anthony cracked18; Rovaldo Mingo took two wickets.
In the female division, Ann’s Grove thumped Helena by nine wickets.
Helena took first strike and scored 25-1. Raynetta Duncan made 11.
Ann’s grove responded with 27-1 off one over. Shemiah Adams stroked 22 (1×4,2×6).
Defending champions Clonbrook & Gibson played to a tie.
Gibson batted first and scored 38-2 with Shavannie Sukhoo scoring 16. Clonbrook made 38-2 in reply. Malika Hamilton got15.
