Police gained first innings points from Muslim Youth Organisation (MYO) when their Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA)/Noble House Sea Foods second division 2-day game ended as a drawn encounter yesterday.
With the minimum of the 15 mandatory overs in the last hour already gone, host MYO were bowled out for 214 off 56 overs, eight minutes before the final hour elapsed. When play finally got underway at 15:15 hrs due to seepages on the pitch, MYO resumed on their overnight score of 78-2, but lost wickets at regular intervals to be at 154-9.
Abdul Khadir and Parmanand Parsram (18) frustrated the visitors with a ninth wicket stand of 55 before Khadir who struck four sixes was caught off Vishal Jaigobin for 35.
Earlier, Chabiraj Ramcharran slammed eleven fours in a top score of 53 and got support from Khadir Manjoor 32 (3×4) and Robindra Persaud 22(4×4). Jaigobin was the pick of the bowlers with 3-44 from 16 overs while Rawl Haynes claimed 2-51 off nine overs and Troy Benn 2-54 from 19.
Police declared on 300-9 after 38 overs in their first innings on day one with Benn scoring 164 and Daniel Barker 50. Ramcharran captured 3-40 including a hat trick; Parsram snared 2-29, Ishmael 2-76.
At University of Guyana ground, Sophia conceded defeat against Georgetown Cricket Club by failing to turn up on the second and final day. Sophia were bowled out for 98 in 29.4 overs batting first. Deonarine Seegobin claimed 4-18, Ronaldo Mohamed 2-12 and Devon Lord 2-21. In reply GCC were 205-3 off 39 overs at stumps on the first day with Mohamed unbeaten on 100 and Seegobin not out on 61.
