Dear Editor,
In August 2013 when the Customs Officers put the cocaine on the plane, Kurkshid Sattaur said on TV and in the newspapers that all the Customs Officers would be transferred to a different location.
Big Lie — only some of the Customs Officers were transferred, the others were strategically placed so that the cocaine can continue to pass freely. One officer (name given) with four to six years at CJIA, remained at the airport for one month after the incident then was transferred to Goods Examination Unit but was placed on the Relief Shift at the airport to pass the drugs every other Sunday. Note: Goods Examination is not a part of Customs, so why is he still working at the airport?
Another officer (name given) worked at the airport for five years as a senior customs official on the night shift.
It is alleged that a male friend of hers was responsible for putting cocaine on the aircraft, yet5 she was put on the relief shift to continue the trade.
Another customs officer also with five years of service in the cargo section at CJIA is still there.
Aren’t there other officers who can work at the airport?
It would appear that senior persons at the GRA are ensuring that persons are in KEY POSITIONS to pass the cocaine for years. GRA said that the Customs Officers at CJIA would be rotated every three months. Why is it that the Officers who were at the Airport when the drugs pass continue to work at the airport and some of these officers are stationed at the airport for 4, 5 & 6 years then transferred for three months and then put back at the airport?.
Why are new people that are not part of the DRUG TRADE only placed at the airport for three months and the Customs staff that passing the drugs only spent three months away from the airport?
Rotation is coming up soon, let’s see where the cocaine passers would be placed. Let’s see how the seniors at GRA would keep these people.
